Jacob's Well is one of the most significant natural geologic treasures in the Texas Hill Country. It is one of the longest underwater caves in Texas and an artesian spring.
Jacob’s Well surges up thousands of gallons of water per minute and acts as headwaters to the beautiful Cypress Creek that flows through Wimberley, sustaining Blue Hole and the Blanco River, recharging the Edwards Aquifer, and finally replenishing estuaries in the Gulf of Mexico.
Jacob’s Well has been integral to the cultural and historical character of the Wimberley Valley. The location has been a beloved swimming hole for generations, a gathering place for Native Americans and early settlers, and a rich habitat for aquatic species. Through the creation of the Jacob’s Well Natural Area, the land around the well has been unified to restore and protect this sensitive area for future generations.
Come share in Wimberley’s best-kept secret – Jacob’s Well, an artesian spring that flows out of one of the deepest underwater caves in Texas. Hear the stories about famous floods and scuba divers, learn the value of native grasses, and experience the stunning beauty of the spring that started this town. Docents lead tours on Saturday at 10am. www.jacobswellspring.org

Grab your cowboy hat and boots and enjoy a wild, adrenaline rush of Wimberley's rodeo. Early rodeo began as the everyday chores of working ranches on the great plains of the American West. These chores would eventually evolve into the unique rodeo events that we enjoy today.

A Hill Country tradition, the Annual Pro-Open VFW Rodeo and PBR Bull Riding has been held for more than 65 years on the first weekend in July at the VFW's rodeo grounds just north of town on Ranch Road 12. Once the largest outdoor rodeo in the world, the event still ranks near the top.
Events include: bull riding, tie down calf roping, bareback bronc riding, saddle bronc riding, steer wrestling, team roping, women's breakaway roping, women's barrel racing, and of course a midway featuring amusement rides, entertainment and fast food booths. www.visitwimberley.com/rodeo

Cypress Falls Swimming Hole has been a destination for locals and visitors for as long as some Wimberley residents can remember. This particular spot is the home of Wimberley's signature Eagle Rock, a name still used to identify the swimming hole. Long time locals will tell of dances and parties held at the old Eagle Rock, and others recall the lodge nearby that once operated in rustic grandeur.
Although the name has changed, the swimming hole remains a hallmark of Wimberley and the beautiful Cypress Creek.
If you work up an appetite while enjoying Cypress Falls, simply walk over to the Cypress Falls Cafe, overlooking the water. You can choose to dine in the shade or to walk up to the top deck where you can get a wonderful view the Cypress lined Woodcreek bridg
e that is featured on several Wimberley post cards. While on the top deck make sure to observe Eagle Rock, a naturally carved rock formation and its neighbor, a solitary limestone boulder that seems to wade in the creek. This cluster of limestone creates a secluded area against the bluffs and the falls. There are so many ways to enjoy Cypress Falls on Cypress Creek, but the cool emerald water and the soothing sounds of the falls will keep you coming back. 512.847.6480
